What is Cat Translator?
Cat Translator is an iPhone app that interprets what your cat is saying. You record a meow, film a short clip or type a sentence, and an AI model answers with a short line in your cat's voice, the mood behind it and the clues it was read from. Around that sit the Catsperts, a daily care plan and photo and video tools.
How does the translation work?
The recording or clip is sent to an AI model, which matches it to one of seven kinds of cat call — meow, chirp, trill, purr, growl, hiss or yowl — and reads the context around it. In a video it also looks at the tail, ears and posture. If there is no cat in the recording, the app says so instead of inventing an answer.
How accurate is it?
No app can know exactly what a cat means. Cat Translator gives an interpretation based on the sound, the body language and common cat behaviour, and shows the evidence and a confidence score with each answer. Treat it as a fun and thoughtful way to pay closer attention to your cat, not as a certainty.
Is Cat Translator free?
Cat Translator is free to download. The phrasebook of 45 cat phrases with real recordings is free and works offline, and every new user gets two free AI translations. Ongoing translation and the Catsperts come with a Premium subscription, and the photo and video tools use coins, which never expire.
Who are the Catsperts?
The Catsperts are two AI experts inside the chat: one for behaviour and one for care. You can type a question or let them listen to a recording of your cat. They give general guidance, not a diagnosis — if something seems urgent, contact your veterinarian.
What happens to my recordings and photos?
Recordings, clips and photos are sent to our servers only to produce the answer and are not kept after it is returned. Pictures and videos the app creates for you are stored privately for 30 days so you can find them in Your generations. Your cats' profiles and chat history stay on your device. Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No account is needed — there is no email or password. Translation, the Catsperts and the photo and video tools need an internet connection; the phrasebook works offline.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. You can cancel at any time through your device's subscription settings. You'll keep Premium access until the end of your current billing period.
